Note 159 — GEOFROY TORY
George Burnham Ives translation
The rent of these premises, which was only 16 livres in 1420, and 22 in 1498, was raised to 160 livres in 1551, to 200 in 1567, and to 400 in 1605. (Les Trois Ilots de la Cité, by Adolphe Berty, p. 15). It seems that the raising of rents in Paris is not a modern invention.
