Extract from the speech of Lord Lyons, delivered at the Mansion House on the 13th February 1856: “All behaved well, but I doubt whether there is anything in the annals of Chivalry that surpasses the conduct of Captain Peel’s Aides-de-Camp, Messrs. Daniel and Wood, one of whom (Mr. Wood), when wounded, placed a scaling ladder against the Redan.”
