Reading edition
Beveridge’s Marshall, III, 42. F. M. Anderson, “The Enforcement of the Alien and Sedition Laws,” Rep. Am. Hist. Assn. (1912), 125, says that the grand juries were composed preponderantly, if not exclusively, of Federalists; that the Callender trial jury was drawn in a manner that went far toward justifying the charge of packing, and that other juries could scarcely be called impartial.
