Note 70 — Chapter VIII
Emily Hill translation
Charles Lipinski, born at Rdzyn, in Poland, in 1790, was as great a violinist as Chopin was a pianist. He enjoyed a considerable reputation; but as a composer is so far surpassed by Chopin that the two can only be mentioned together as Polandʼs greatest virtuosi. Lipinski died in 1861, at his estate in Galicia, after holding, for more than twenty years, the post of chef dʼorchestre at Dresden.
