This is a prominent hill situated at Hana, Maui. It is named Ka-iwi-o-Pele,2 on account of a man named Namakaeha, who came from Kahiki and met Mahinahina. On meeting her, Namakaeha spoke to her because she was a good-looking woman. Her husband was Kapapauoa who lived near Puuhele, Hana, Maui, the place referred to by the bards as “The surf of Puuhele that is ridden.”
