The first number of the Illinois Monthly Magazine was issued in October, 1830. Late in 1832 Hall removed to Cincinnati, when he soon began issuing the Western Monthly Magazine, or continuation of the former publication, whose subject matter was largely historical, dealing with the early settlement of the West.
