Note 16 — Chapter VI

Reading edition

"Pinch" is used to avoid the use of a technical term, but should be understood to mean the grasping and squeezing of a part with the whole hand, using the palmar portion of the fingers to press the grasped mass against the "heel" of the hand. Fuller technical details of the massage process and consideration of its effects will be found in the excellent "Handbook" of Kleen, in the works of Dr. Douglas Graham, Dr. A. Symon Eccles, and in an article in Professor Clifford Albutt's "System of Medicine" (1896), by Dr. John K. Mitchell.
