Note 124 — Chapter X · THE ORDINATION IN DECEMBER.
Reading edition
Only the Pope can say Mass on it, or a cardinal, by authority of a special bull. This high altar has been lately magnificently decorated. A plank of the wooden altar has always been preserved in St. Peter’s altar, at St. Pudentiana’s. It has been lately compared with the wood of the Lateran altar, and found to be identical.
