Acenipo, according to Ptolemy. The ruined city was discovered A.D. 1650, and the coins, inscriptions, and statues, that have been found there, leave no doubt of its being the Acenippo mentioned by Pliny as one of the cities of Celtica, (Lib iii.) the situation of which country had long been matter of dispute; some supposing it to have been on the banks of the Guadiana.
