Note 1275 — Chapter VI · THE LAST YEARS OF HENRY II. 1183–1189.
Reading edition
Some of Henry’s troops had thrown themselves into the citadel, and held out there for three days after his flight. Gesta Hen. as above. Another body of troops in a tower by the north gate (this must be the Conqueror’s Mont-Barbet—the “citadel” being the old palace or castle of the counts, near the cathedral) held out for a week longer still. R. Diceto (Stubbs), vol. ii. p. 63.
