Note 83 — Chapter VI · TRUE AND FALSE LIBERALS

Reading edition

The writer of some verses in an Ohio newspaper, after complaining of the failure of the millennium to arrive in spite of the efforts of “many scores of dreamers, poets, orators and schemers,” concludes as follows:

The author of this doggerel is nearer to the wisdom of the ages than some of our college presidents.
