Clancarty aan Castlereagh, 9 Febr. 1814 (F. O.); vgl. Hogendorp V, 54.—„The Prince of Orange has been playing the very devil in attempting to agitate the public mind in the Austrian Low Countries to tender the sovereignty of those provinces to him; in some parts among the very lowest rabble he has succeeded, but as these efforts have been directly against the opinions of the better and more respectable inhabitants, who are equally hostile to French rule, but who wish for the return of their old Government, or in default of this to be disposed of by the Allies with the consent of the Emperor who they think will consult their interests, these movements have had little effect, and indeed except in the immediate neighbourhood of General Bülow's force have scarcely appeared at all” (Clancarty aan Hamilton, 9 Febr. 1814; F. O.).—Vgl. Fauchille, bl. 180.
