Cuming's tour to the western country (1807-1809)

Note 154 — Chapter XXXVII

Reading edition

Cuming’s historical narratives are not as accurate as his observations. This defeat of Grant occurred in 1758, and but a third of the troops engaged were killed and captured—540 out of 813 returning to Bouquet’s camp at Loyalhanna. See Parkman, Montcalm and Wolfe (Boston, 1885), ii, pp. 150-154.—Ed.
