Note 181 — CICERO’S LETTERS TO ATTICUS BOOK V
Eric Otto Winstedt translation
παράπηγμα ἐνιαύσιον corresponds to clavus anni of the next letter. The expression arose from the custom of driving a nail into the right wall of the Temple of Jupiter on the Ides of September every year to keep count of the years.
