Note 139 — Book the Fourth
Reading edition
On the second of April 1814, M. le Comte d’Artois permitted the National Guard of Paris to wear a silver Fleurdelys suspended from a white watered riband, in recognition of service. On the twenty-sixth of April, a Star was substituted for the Fleurdelys, and a blue border added to the white riband. The Decoration was called the Order of the Lily of France, and all decorés made to swear an oath of fidelity to God, and of obedience to the King, (Tettoni e Saladini. Teatro Araldico.)
