The indenture making this assignment, dated October 31, 1864, is printed in full in the appendix to the journals of the Senate and Assembly of the 20th Session of the Legislature of the State of California, Vol. 6 (1874), No. 2. pp. 27-29. It covers not only the right to build and operate a railroad between Sacramento and San José, but also “all the rights, grants, donations, rights-of-way, loan of the credit of the Government of the United States, or the bonds thereof.”
