Aubrey in Wood MS. F. 39, fol. 379v: Sept. 25, 1686. Aubrey gives the inscription (printed in Wood's Ath. Oxon.), and the coat of arms, '..., a lion rampant crowned ...; impaling, ..., a lion rampant ..., a hand in the lyon's mouth, within a bordure ermine.'
