Note 165 — Chapter XXIII

J. V. (Jedediah Vincent) Huntington translation

Coues locates this abandoned trading house at the junction of the Miette and Athabasca rivers, in Western Alberta. It was founded by William Henry, and commanded both the Athabasca and Yellowhead passes, but was abandoned because of the difficulty of securing provisions.

McDonald, in his journal (Masson, Bourgeois, ii, p. 53) speaks of this man whose leg was broken.—Ed.
