Major J. B. Pond in his book, Eccentricities of Genius, described the interior of “Waldemere” as “a museum of itself.” “All the gems of the old museum that were of extraordinary interest as curios were to be seen there. Although he cared nothing especially for rare paintings, the things that he gathered about him seemed designed to attract the eye rather than the ear or the finer qualities of the mind.” P. 352.
