Note 314 — PART III.

Reading edition

As in Scio, according to information given me by Dr. Clarke. Howard, in his Account of the principal European Lazarettoes, mentions, p. 40, the leper hospital in Scio. Hennen, in his Medical Topography of the Mediterranean, states that elephantiasis is endemic in one small village in Cephalonia, p. 275. Savary seems to have met with several cases in the islands of the Archipelago (Letters on Greece, 1788, p. 110).
