The Attahpahms of Commander Forbes. They must not be confounded with the proper Takpas of the powerful Nigerian kingdom Nufe. In Mr. Norris’ map they are made to extend to the north-west of Agbome. I have met amongst the slaves and bush women lower lips pierced to admit a bit of coral, and when asking the tribe, was generally answered “Takpas.”
