Silv., I. praef.: “adhuc pro Thebaide mea, quamuis me reliquerit, timeo.” The words in Silv., IV. iv. 89, “Thebais optato collegit carbasa portu” (published in A.D. 95), apparently refer to the attainment of fame by the Thebaid some time after publication.
