Note 314 — Chapter III · VELLEIUS, CURTIUS AND HISTORY

Reading edition

Hosius, Rh. Mus. xlviii. p. 303 sqq., on Lucan u. seine Quellen endeavours to suggest, on ground of analogies in description and resemblances in expression, that Lucan used Curtius. If proved, this would clearly bear on his date. But Hosius’s theory is examined and rejected, I think convincingly, by R. Pichon in Les Sources de Lucain, 1912, pp. 254-261.
