Note 569 — Chapter II · PETRONIUS: NOVELIST AND POET

Reading edition

Among the manuscript titles is Petronii arbitri affranii Satirici lib. incip., where the at first puzzling appearance of the name of Afranius indicates Petronius’ resemblance to that writer of togata-comedies in puerorum foedis amoribus (Teuffel, Gesch. d. röm. Lit., § 305, 1).
