After the defeat of his party by the combined efforts of Freiburg and Bern, the Bishop had quitted Geneva on August 1st, 1527; he returned there on July 1st, 1533, but left again after a fortnight’s residence (July 14th, 1533), disgusted, he said, at an act of iconoclasm.
