Note 899 — SECTION XXXVIII: CHAPTER IV

Reading edition

Wellington’s letter to Graham, giving the false report that D’Erlon had been repulsed at Maya, is dated at 10 p.m. The letter to O’Donnell must be a little later, as it repeats this error, but adds that a note has come in from Cole, saying that he was heavily engaged at noon. Dispatches, x. pp. 566-7.
