Note 1178 — Chapter IV · CONFLICTING JURISDICTIONS. (continued 2)

Reading edition

The three passages cited were Simancas, de Cathol. Institt. Tit. xxxiv, n. 6; Sousa, Aphorismi Inquisit. Lib. I, cap. 1, n. 16, and Peña in Eymerici Directorium, P. III, Comment. 61. Of the three Sousa comes nearest to supplying what was wanted in saying that the officials of the Inquisition are punishable, for official delinquencies, by those who appoint them.
