Note 39 — Chapter I · Beginnings of the Bibliography of Bibliographies

Reading edition

For Albertus Magnus see George Sarton, Introduction to the History of Science, II (Baltimore, 1937), 937 and Lynn Thorndike, A History of Magic and Experimental Science, II (New York, 1923), 692-717. The Speculum astronomiae, which Gesner has in mind, has also been ascribed to Roger Bacon, but this is probably an error.
