The chief authority for this Copenhagen period is E. C. Werlauff’s “Bidrag til P. H. Lings Biographie,” in Frey: Tidskrift för Vetenskap och Kunst (Upsala), 1848, pp. 92-105. Werlauff (1781-1871), later well known as historian and teacher in the University, was employed in the Royal Library at the time of Ling’s sojourn in Denmark and became his close friend.
