This eminent Prophet was favoured with a vision of God’s glory, which, though preceded by storm, and earthquake, and fire, was accompanied with a still small voice. This was the voice of love and mercy, whose sweetest notes were heard at Calvary without the gate; for the Septuagint says, κακεῖ Κυριος, and the Lord was there; 1 Kings xix. 12.—See the Alexandrine edition.
