A Commentary to Kant's 'Critique of Pure Reason'

Note 985 — Chapter II · DEDUCTION OF THE PURE CONCEPTS OF THE UNDERSTANDING (continued 3)

Reading edition

Kant very probably arrived at this view of inner sense under the influence of Tetens who teaches a similar doctrine in his Philosophische Versuche über die menschliche Natur und ihre Entwickelung. Cf. Bd. i.; Versuch i. 7, 8. The first volume of Tetens’ work was published in 1777 (re-issued by the Kantgesellschaft in 1913), and had been carefully read by Kant prior to the final preparation of the Critique. Cf. B. Erdmann, Kriticismus, p. 51.
